The driving licence test method in Delhi is basic. If you passed the preliminary verbal/written test on traffic rules and regulations and received your learners licence, you can take the practical driving test at any time after one month. This signifies that they expect you to practise for at least a month.
You can choose a slot when you feel comfortable giving the test, as long as it is within six months of receiving your learners. On that day, an inspector will review your paperwork before taking the test. The transportation department does not supply vehicles; therefore, you must bring your own. Or if you were enrolled in a car.
Four-wheeler test: First, you must complete the ground test, which involves driving along the specified 'H' without touching the poles set along the edges. This is mostly used to assess your ability to control the vehicle, shift gears, reverse, focus on driving along the designated path, and so on. If your car brushes against any of the poles, causing it to fall off, you will fail the test. And you won't get a second chance on the same day. Please avoid coercion, bribery, and similar tactics. It won't work. You will be given another date to retake the test. After passing the ground test, you will be eligible for the road test, which is the final level. The examiner will accompany you and will mostly assess your driving skills, vehicle adaptation, and knowledge of traffic rules and legislation. If he is dissatisfied with the way you drive, you will be assigned another date. And no, you do not need to repeat the ground test.
Two-wheeler & three-wheeler tests: The ground test is also performed initially in these cases. You must ride the bike or auto rickshaw along the previously demarcated 'Figure of Eight' without contacting the poles placed at various corners. This demonstrates to the examiner how familiar you are with your vehicle, shifting gears, reversing, bending turns, and so on. This 'figure of eight' ride cannot be completed with your feet touching the ground. If you do that, you'll fail the test. If you pass this, you will be sent for the road test, which requires you to ride for a set distance on the road while adhering to all rules and regulations. The Inspector of Motor Vehicles will administer a driving test in accordance with the requirements outlined in Rule 15 of the Central Motor Vehicle Rules (1989). If he is delighted with your results, he can forward his permissions to the RTO, and you will soon have your licence to drive wherever in India. Failing candidates should not be discouraged. After 7 days, you can retake the test and practise to improve your performance. A small fee is charged to attend a retest.
Your driving licence has to be renewed once it expires on its validity date, which is 20 years after the issuance or when you are of age 50 (whichever happens first). For this, you need to get in touch with your nearest RTO zonal office during their office hours to start the procedure.

International driving licences are typically supplied from various RTO zone offices and are good for 12 months. For this, you must have your driver's licence from your home country. Aside from that, the following documents must be presented when applying for an overseas driving permit.
Please note that International driving licence will be given from 8.30 in the morning to 1 in the afternoon at any zonal office.
Your driving licence is normally valid for 20 years in India from the date of issuing or until you reach the age of 50, whichever comes first. However, if you receive a licence for a commercial, passenger, or cargo vehicle, it must be renewed every third year.
It is not mandatory. Anyone with a permanent driver's licence is eligible to train. However, for safety reasons, it is advisable to learn from a competent instructor, as they typically teach in vehicles with dual control. However, obtaining a commercial vehicle licence is required, as the Motor Driving School must issue Form No.5.
Aside from the obvious driving competency, you will be evaluated on your ability to operate your car in a crowded and congested environment. The theoretical component of the test assesses your ability to interpret road signs, vehicle system indications, paperwork to be kept in the vehicle, rules, and so on.
Yes, you can apply for a re-test after 7 days.
You will only need it if you have a Heavy Motor Vehicle Licence. In order to renew an HMV driving licence, one must attend a 'Driver Refresher Training Course'. The Driver Training Refresher Course Certificate has been mandatory since 1998.
