How to Pay for Your Driving License/Learner's License Online

The following are the steps to pay driving license or learner’s license online: 

  1. Visit the official website of Parivahan Sarathi of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (https://sarathi.parivahan.gov.in/paymentscov/)
  2. Click on ‘EPAYMENT’ option
  3. Select ‘Application fee’
  4. Provide all the required details, such as application number and date of birth
  5. To determine the applicable fee for your application, click on the ‘Click Here to Calculate Fee’ option
  6. before proceeding further, review the application to verify the accuracy of the details
  7. Select the preferred bank and payment gateaway to complete the payment
  8. Enter the code generated for transaction
  9. To initiate the payment process, click on the ‘Pay Now’

Types of Driving Licence in India

The following is the list of driving licences offered in India:

  1. MC 50CC: Licence for vehicles with engine capacity of 50cc or less
  2. LMV - NT: Licence for Light Motor Vehicles (non-transport class) such as, jeeps and cars
  3. LMV - TR: Licnece for Light Motor Vehicle for commercial purposes
  4. FVG: Licence for vehicles without gears that include scooters and mopeds
  5. HGMV: Licence offered to Heavy Goods Motor Vehicles that include trailers and large trucks
  6. MCWG: Licnece provided to motorcycles with or without gears
  7. MC EX50CC: This licence can be availed by motorcycles with gears and an engine capacity of 50cc or more
  8. HMV: Licence provided to Heavy Motor Vehicles
  9. HPMV: This licence is offered to commercial vehicles that has All India Permit for passenger transport
  10. Trailer: Licence provided to heavy motor vehicle licence holders
  11. MGV: Licence provided to Medium Goods Vehicles

Offline Application for Driving Licence and Learning Licence

The following are the steps to make offline payment for learner and driving license fee for 2-wheeler or 4-wheeler:

  1. Collect all the required documents, such as:

✓ Age proof

✓ Passport-sized photographs

  1. Locate and visit the nearest Regional Transport Office during the working hours
  2. Fill in the application form at the RTO
  3. Pay the required application fee
  4. Complete the vision test
  5. Give the written examination on traffic rules and regulations
  6. Learner’s permit is granted after completing the application
  7. The applicant will be approved for the supervised driving practice
  8. Perform the driving test organised by the RTO after a specific duration of practice
  9. The official driving licence will be offered after passing the test
