Maharashtra was one of the first states to implement e-challans to improve road safety standards throughout the state. You may have to pay a fine of Rs.1000 to Rs.10,000 (depending on the severity of the violation) to the Maharashtra RTO.  You can pay the fine and check the status online at the state traffic website, Parivahan website or on the MahaTraffic app.

Individuals who breach traffic regulations will be issued an E-Challan by the Maharashtra RTO. The latest update on traffic violations and the fines imposed are as follows (in accordance with the state guidelines):

There are three options for paying the E-challan for traffic violations in Maharashtra. The steps for each method are as follows: 

How to Pay E-challan via the State Traffic Website

  1. This official website dealing with traffic challans issued in Maharashtra.  
  1. You will find two options: Challan number and Vehicle number for paying the E-Challan.  
  2. Choose the relevant option. If you opt for the vehicle number, then you have to submit the last 4 digits of the engine chassis number.  
  3. Fill in the captcha details as shown in the box.  
  4. Click ‘Enter’ after submitting all the details. 
  5. You will be directed to the payment portal page. Select the payment method to pay your E-Challan.  
  1. After you complete your payment, you will receive an acknowledgement message.  

How to Pay E-Challan using Parivahan Sewa

  1. Go to https://echallan.parivahan.gov.in. This is the official website of The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH).   
  2. Click on 'Pay Online’' 
  3. You have three options, driving licence number, E-Challan number, and vehicle number. Enter the relevant option.   
  4. Fill in the captcha code and click on the button 'Get Detail',  
  5. You will see a list of pending E-Challan on the page.  
  6. Pay the E-Challan using the payment portal.   
  7. Upon completion, you will receive an acknowledgement receipt.

How to Pay E-challan using Paytm

  1. Go to the Paytm App on your mobile phone.
  2. Scroll to find the ‘Recharge and Pay Bills’ section. 
  3. Click on ‘E-Challan’. 
  4. You can either enter your vehicle or challan number.
  5. You will find information regarding any pending challans.

  1. Install the MahaTraffic app on your smartphone. 
  2. Register or sign in with your mobile number. 
  3. You will receive an OTP on your registered mobile for verification. Enter the OTP to complete the registration process.

  5. Fill in the necessary information. You will be prompted to enter your vehicle number or challan number.
