Learner’s Licence in Rajasthan – Application Process & Documents

An official document that certifies the holder to drive vehicles in India, Learner's license and Permanent license is mandatory in India for those who wish to drive. A Learner's license has a validity of six months and allows the holder to drive a private motor vehicle without a gear and of the engine capacity of 50CC. Anyone above the age of 16 can apply for this. It must be noted that the Learner's License will not be extended beyond six months. Rajasthan Motor Vehicle Department

The Rajasthan Motor Vehicle Department is responsible for issuing permits and licenses to those who clear the tests. Customers can visit the website in order to download forms and apply for the tests or can visit any of the available RTO (Regional Transport Office) centers throughout the state.

Eligibility

Only those who are aged 16 and above can apply for a learner's license. They will also need consent from the parents or guardians before applying for the same. Customers with learner's license can only drive vehicles that are of the engine capacity of 50CC and vehicles that do not have gears.

A learner's license is valid only for six months and is not renewable. This license can be used anywhere throughout the country.

  1. For two wheelers without gears, or light vehicles with engine capacity not exceeding 50cc, candidates need to be a minimum of 16 years old.
  2. For other vehicles with gear, candidates must be at least 18 years old.
  3. For other transport or commercial vehicles, candidates must be at least 20 years old.
  4. The candidate must be aware of traffic rules and regulations.

Procedure for Obtaining Learner’s License in Rajasthan

Learner's license can be obtained from any of the Regional Transport Offices or from driving schools.

  1. Visit the official website.
  2. Select the state where you reside or from where you want to apply for a learner's license.
  3. Click on 'Apply for learner's license'. You will be directed to a new page.
  4. Click on 'Continue'.
  5. Select the category from the drop-down menu and since you are applying for a learner's license, click on 'Applicant does not hold any Driving/Learner license issued in India'
  6. Click on 'Submit'. A new page will open.
  7. For some states, you do not have to visit the RTO to appear for a learner's license test. You can easily take the test from the comfort of your home. However, you will have to authenticate yourself, hence choose either 'Authenticate with Aadhaar' or 'Authenticate without Aadhaar'.
  8. If you choose the latter then you will have to visit the nearest RTO along with all the necessary documents. If you choose the former option, click on 'Submit, following which you will have to enter your Aadhaar number.
  9. A One-Time Password (OTP) will be sent to your registered mobile number. Enter the OTP and get yourself authenticated.
  10. Follow the instructions and provide the necessary documents and pay the registration fees.
  11. You can then schedule the time of your learner's license test. If you clear the test, then you will be able to avail a learner's license test.

Offline

You can visit the nearest RTO and collect the form for learner's license and submit it along with all the necessary documents. Schedule a time to appear for your test. Once you clear the test, you will be issued the learner's license.

Documents Required for Obtaining Learner’s License in Rajasthan

  2. Three passport size photographs are required.
