If you are selling off your vehicle, you need to transfer the vehicle's ownership to the buyer's name. To do so, you will have to submit Form 29 to the Regional Transport Office. Form 29 asserts that the vehicle owner has submitted all the related documents.

RTO Form 29 is divided into two parts. The first part consists of the original vehicle owner's personal details and the second part consists of the new vehicle buyer's details. In the concluding section of the form, there is an official endorsement that is signed by the Registering Authority.

Step 2: Under the 'Driving Licence' category, click on link for Form 29
In case the vehicle has been sold, passed on to another citizen, please follow the below steps for transfer of ownership
Step 1: Visit https://vahan.parivahan.gov.in/vahanservice/vahan/
Step 2: Enter your Vehicle Registration No.
Step 3: Click on 'Proceed'
Step 4: Select the 'Basic Services' Option
Step 5: Enter the last 5 Digits of chassis no. and click on 'Validate Registration no/Chassis no'
Step 6: Generate OTP, enter correct OTP and submit
Step 7: Select 'Transfer of Ownership'
Step 8: Enter 'Service Details'
Step 9: Update 'Insurance Details'
Step 10: Review Fee Panel and Proceed
Step 11: Pay fee, as shown
Step 12: Upload the document (if required)
Step 13: Take Appointment
Step 14: Receipt Generated
Step 15: After this, the application will be moved to RTO for further processing
