How to Apply for PCC Online?

Here are the steps to apply for Police Clearance Certificate online:

1. Visit the Passport Seva Kendra's (PSK) official website or the Indian embassy 

1. Complete the PCC application form, which is available on the official website 

1. Collect the necessary documents, which consist of a copy of your passport, proof of address, and, if important evidence of any past criminal history 

1. Verify that every document is in its proper place and satisfies the authorities' requirements 

1. Apply online for the PCC by paying the application fee through the official website 

1. To submit your application and documents, make an appointment at the closest PSK, Indian embassy, or consulate. Arrive on time, and make sure you have all the necessary documents 

1. While submitting your application, include your biometric information, such as your fingerprints and a photo 

1. When the PCC is prepared, pick it up from the Indian embassy or consulate or PSK. For verification purposes, do not forget to bring the original documents that you submitted with your application. 

How to Track Police Clearance Certificate Status?  

Here are the steps to know the status of your PCC application: 

1. Visit the state's police department's official website to see where the PCC was issued 

1. Find and select the Police Clearance Certificate or PCC option 

1. Entering the necessary information, such as your name, date of birth, application number, etc., will take you to a new page where you may check the status of your PCC application 

1. If your PCC is listed as issued, you can use the same page to download the certificate. The certificate will not be issued until it is pending or in process, in such a case you will have to wait 

1. You can contact the respective police department or visit their office in person if you have any questions or concerns 

1. It is more beneficial to visit the official website of the relevant police department for more information, as the requirements and process may differ from state to state. 

Documents for Police Clearance Certificate 

The following documents is required in India to receive a Police Clearance Certificate: 

1. The application form is available online or at the nearest police station 

1. You will need to submit two passport-sized photos with your application 

1. Identity proof such as a driver's license, passport, Aadhaar card, or voter ID card 

1. Proof of address such as utility bill, rent agreement, or bank statement  

1. Any previous certifications of police clearance (if applicable). 

Validity of Police Clearance Certificate in India 

Depending on the requesting authority or country, the validity of a Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) ranges from three to six months. Make sure to check the requirements specified by the organisation or country you are submitting the PCC certificate as the validity period may vary for organisations. 

What is the Police Clearance Certificate Processing Time in India? 

The Police Clearance Certificate PCC usually takes about ten days, after police verification. The report gets uploaded in seven to ten days, after the police send the report to the regional passport office. Applicants must visit the regional passport office in person for faster processing. 

If the police verification report for your current passport is positive, then the PCC certificate can be issued the same day. PCC will be issued only after verification in the following cases: 

1. The current address is different from the one on the passport. 

1. If the police verification was not done during the issuance of the passport. 

1. The applicant does not need verification if they were dependent on a government employee. 

1. If the applicant was a minor during passport issuance and is now an adult. 

1. For any reason, if the passport was issued without police verification. 

PCC Application for Passports Issued by Other Indian Missions or Offices

If you are in India, you can submit the completed Police Clearance Certificate application form at any Passport Office or Passport Seva Kendra under the control of the Passport Office.

You must get in touch with the Indian mission in the nation where you are based if you are not in India. The following documents will need to be submitted with self-attested copies:

1. Proof of current address in case the present address is different from the one mentioned in the passport.
2. Original passport with a self-attested copy of the first two and last two pages, including the ECR/ECNR(Non-ECR) page and page of observation, if there is any made by the authority issuing the passport along with validity extension page, if there is any.

1. Provide self-attested documents as mentioned on the Passport Seva portal 

1. Make the fee payment in the form cash or by cheque
