Passport Address Change

Step 1: Visit the Passport Seva website.

Step 2: Click on the ‘New User Registration’ option. 

Step 3: Enter all your details and select your nearest passport office. 

Step 4: Enter the CAPTCHA code and click on ‘Register’. 

Step 5: Once you have completed the registration procedure, log in the Passport Seva porta using your credentials. 

Step 6: Next, choose ‘Apply for Fresh Passport/ Reissue of Passport’ option from the homepage. 

Step 7: Click on ‘Click here to fill in the application form online’. 

Step 8: Enter certain details like passport booklet type and application type. 

Step 9: Select ‘View Saved/ Submitted Applications’ option. 

Step 10: Click on the ‘Pay and Schedule Appointment’ to make the payment. 

Step 11: Now, click on the ‘Next’ button. 

Step 12: You need to choose a PSK location and finally take a printout of the application receipt. 

How to Change Address in Passport Offline

Follow the steps given below to change address in passport offline: 

Step 1: Visit the nearest Passport Seva Kendra and collect the form for passport application. Alternatively, you can also download the form from the official passport website.  

Step 2: Fill out the form correctly and attach all the required documents. 

Step 3: Visit the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or Regional Passport Office (RPO) and submit the filled application form. 

Step 4: Pay the applicable fees. 

Step 5: Police verification may be conducted to confirm the new address. The process may take some time depending on the region. 

Step 6: Once the police has verified all the details, you will receive a new passport. 

Fees for Change of Address in Passport

The costs associated with renewing your passport and changing your address on it are the same. The price will differ based on the kind of passport being sought for, the number of pages in the booklet, if a normal application or a Tatkaal application is being submitted, etc.

The Fees for Each Type of Application

Note:

1. The above-mentioned fees once paid is non-refundable.
2. The fees are applicable to minors between 15 to 18 years of age willing to avail themselves of a passport with 10-year validity.
3. The above-mentioned application fee must be paid in addition to the takaal fee.

Documents Required for Changing Address in Passport

The following documents are to be submitted when applying for a change of address:

1. Original old Passport.
2. Copy of your online application.
3. Copy of payment receipt or challan receipt
4. Self-attested copy of the first two and last two pages.
5. Self-attested copy of the Emigration Check Required (ECR)/Non-ECR page.
6. Self-attested copy of the page of observation, if any, made by Passport Issuing Authority.
7. Self-attested copy of the validity extension page, if any, in respect of short validity passport.
8. Current address proof (Any one)
9. Election Commission Photo / Voter ID card
10. Aadhaar card
11. Electricity bill
12. Water bill
13. Proof of gas connection
14. Telephone bill (mobile or landline)
15. Registered rent agreement
16. Income Tax Assessment Order
17. Spouse's passport copy (first and last page including family details). Applicant's present address should match the address mentioned in the spouse's passport.
18. Certificate from Employer of reputed companies on letter head
19. Photo passbook of running bank account (Scheduled Private Sector Indian Banks, Scheduled Public Sector Banks, and Regional Rural Banks only)

Reasons for Changing Address in Passport

If you are moving, or if your residential address has changed, you must update this information in your passport. The only way to update your address is to apply for a new passport. Through this process, you will receive a new passport with your current address and a new identity number.
