Categories for Fee Calculation

Application Type

You can calculate fees for the following services for both fresh and reissue:

  1. Passport
  2. Police Clearance Certificate
  3. Identity Certificate
  4. Surrender Certificate

Applicant Age

The fees vary between the ages of the applicant. The categories for ages are:

  1. Below 15 years.
  2. 15 years to 18 years
  3. Above 18 years

Type of Service

There are two types of services offered with regard to passport applications:

  1. Fresh issue
  2. Reissue

Schemes

There are two schemes available under passport issue:

  1. Normal - Applicants applying under this category will follow the regular passport application procedure with the normal processing time. The fees under this category are much lesser.
  2. Tatkal - Applicants applying under this category choose to fast-track their application. The processing time is much lesser but the fees are higher.

Passport Fresh Issue

Log onto the Passport Seva Website and access the fee calculator.

  1. Select application type - Passport
  2. Type of service - Fresh
  3. Select applicant age
  4. Required scheme - Normal or Tatkaal
  5. Click on "Calculate Fee"

Passport Reissue

Log onto the Passport Seva Website and access the fee calculator.

  1. Select application type - Passport
  2. Select type of service - Reissue
  3. Select applicant age
  4. Select your reason for reissue from the following:
    1. Validity expired or due to expire
    2. Delete ECR or Change in personal particulars
    3. Exhaustion of Pages
    4. Lost or damaged passport
  5. For lost and damaged passport, you need to select if your passport has already expired or not
  6. Select your required scheme - Normal or Tatkal
  7. Click on "Calculate Fee"

Fee for Police Clearance Certificate (PCC)

Log onto the Passport Seva Website and access the fee calculator.

  1. Select application type - PCC
  2. Click on "Calculate Fee"
  3. Currently, the fee for PCC is Rs.500

Fee for Identity Certificate (Fresh Issue)

  1. Select application type - Identity Certificate
  2. Select type of service - Fresh
  3. Click on "Calculate Fee"
  4. Currently, the fee for Identity Certificate is Rs.1,000

FAQs on Passport Fee Calculator

  • I have paid the fees but cannot make the appointment. Can I get a refund?

    No, the fees once paid for the passport is not refundable whether you have booked an appointment or not.

  • How long is the fee valid?

    From the date of payment, the fee is valid for one year. In case you have booked your appointment, the fee is valid for one year from the date of appointment.

  • What is the difference between reissue and renewal of passport?

    Renewal of a passport pertains to the situation where the validity of a passport is less than the standard ten-year period. In such a case, the renewal process means extending the validity of the passport. The validity will be updated on the existing passport booklet. On the other hand, a reissue of a passport is done in situations where the passport has been lost, stolen, or damaged, when the validity has expired, or all the pages have been used up. In such cases, a new passport booklet will be issued. 

  • What are the charges for renewing my passport?

    If you are renewing your passport which means extending the validity on a Short Validity Passport, there are no charges associated with this service.

  • Can I pay the fees online?

    Yes, an online payment facility is available. It is mandatory to pay online in order to book an appointment. The payment gateway used is SBI, however, you do not have to be an SBI bank account holder.

  • What is an ARN?

    The ARN is your Application Reference Number issued once you have made your passport application. You need to print out the application receipt by clicking on "Print Application Receipt". This will contain the ARN. Carry this receipt along with your printed application and the required documents.

  • How do I pay the passport application fees?

    The passport application fees can be paid through various modes such as internet banking (State Bank of India and its associate banks), credit card or debit Card (VISA/MasterCard), and SBI bank challan. 

  • What are the fees for a Diplomatic or Official passport?

    There are no fees associated with the diplomatic passport.
