How to Change Photo and Signature on Your PAN Card

Step 2 - Select Application Type as 'Request for New PAN Card Or/And Changes Or Correction in PAN Data

Step 3 - Choose Category as 'Individual'

Step 4 - Enter your details like Surname, Mobile Number, PAN Number Email Address and Date of birth

Step 5 - Enter the Captcha code given and click on 'Submit'

Step 6 - A temporary token number will be assigned for your application

Step 7 -  Select how you want to submit your documents.

Step 8 - Next Under the section 'Photo Mismatch', ensure that you select the checkbox in the column on the left. Only if you select the checkbox will your photo be changed or updated.

Step 9 - Do remember to provide details on your current PAN Card as well as proof of PAN allotted.

Step 10 - You will then be required to provide documents including your photograph. You can do this digitally if you wish to. Documents can be uploaded from your system or you can fetch them from DigiLocker.

Step 11 - Once you have all the documents and details in place, submit the application form.

Step 12 - You will be required to then make a payment of ₹101. This can be done via net banking, credit card, debit card, or via a demand draft.

Step 13 - If you use net banking, you will be charged a surcharge of ₹4 + service tax for the payment gateway.

Step 14 - Once you have made the payment, your application will be sent for approval, and you will receive an email with the acknowledgment number.

Changing Your Signature on Your PAN Card Online

Changing your signature on your PAN Card online  is quite simple and follows almost the same steps that you have to follow to change your picture on your PAN Card.

Here's how you can go about changing your signature on your PAN Card online:

Step 1 - Use the 'Request for New PAN Card Or/And Changes Or Correction in PAN Data' form.

Step 2 - You can find this form by visiting NSDL website.

Step 3 - Mention your current PAN number details correctly.

Step 4 - Fill in all the fields marked with an asterisk (*).

Step 5 - Select the checkbox on the left-hand side margin next to the section 'Signature Mismatch'.

Step 6 - You will have to submit your current PAN Card with the incorrect signature.

Step 7 - Choose 'Yes' if you wish to submit the application and documents digitally.

Step 8 - You will be required to upload required proofs and your signature either from your computer or via DigiLocker.

Step 9 - Submit your application form and make the required payment.

Step 10 - Payment can be made via credit card, debit card, net banking, or demand draft. If you choose to use net banking, do remember you will be charged an additional surcharge of₹4 + service tax (for payment gateway facility).

Step 11 - Once your payment has been confirmed, you will receive an email with an acknowledgement number. You can use this number to track the PAN application status.

Changing Your Photo on Your PAN Card Offline

To change your photo on your PAN Card offline, you will have to:

Step 1 - Fill in the online application form by following all the steps mentioned under the section 'Changing Your Photo on Your PAN Card Online'.

Step 2 - Choose 'No' under 'For Paperless PAN Application'.

Step 3 - Submit the application form.

Step 4 - Make the payment of ₹107 via net banking, credit card, debit card  or demand draft.

Step 5 - You will then receive an email with the acknowledgement.

Step 6 - Print out the acknowledgement form and attach two recent photographs to the form.

Step 7 - Make sure that the photograph is 3.5 cm x 2.5 cm and on white background.

Step 8 - The photograph shouldn't be stapled or clipped to the form. The photograph should be pasted in the space provided.

Step 9 - Do not sign across the photograph.

Step 10 - Submit the printed acknowledgement form along with the required document proofs to following address:

Changing Your Signature on Your PAN Card Offline

To change the signature on your PAN Card offline, you will have to first fill in the application form online and follow the steps mentioned in the online application process. Once you fill the application form, you will have to:

Step 1 - Select 'No' under the 'For Paperless PAN Application' section.

Step 2 - Submit your application form.

Step 3 - Make the payment.

Step 4 - Print out the acknowledgement form that you will receive via email.

Step 5 - Ensure that your signature or left thumbprint is well within the box provided. It shouldn't be across it or on the photograph you provide.

Step 6 - Send this acknowledgement form along with the required document copies and proof of PAN to the following address:

One thing to keep in mind while changing your photo or your signature on your existing PAN Card is to provide your current PAN details correctly.

Moreover, if you are planning on using the offline method to change either your photograph or your signature (or both), make sure that you post the application form and required documents within 15 days of receiving the acknowledgement form via email.

Documents Required to Change Photo and Signature on PAN

he list of documents needed to submit the application for a change in the PAN Card photo and signature is given below: 

1. Proof of address - such as your bank statement, passport, utility bills (gas, water, or electricity), or Aadhaar card.

1. Proof of identity - such as a driver's license, passport, voter ID, or Aadhaar card.

1. Proof of Requested Changes -For a photo change, send in two recent passport-sized photos (3.5 cm x 2.5 cm). To update your signature, either upload a clean scanned copy of your signature (2 cm x 4.5 cm) to the online application form or sign the form in the appropriate box on the physical form.

1. Proof of Date of Birth - such as your passport, birth certificate, Aadhaar card, and school leaving certificate.
