  No, it is not possible to respond to a show cause notice through a call centre representative. The applicant must provide a written or typed response to the show cause notice and either send it by post or personally meet with the relevant authority.

• What is the expected timeline for receiving a Tatkaal passport?

  After successfully submitting your application form and receiving a final status of "Granted," your Tatkaal passport will be dispatched on the third working day (excluding the submission date) without waiting for the Police Verification Report.

  If the passport number, name, and photo are still legible and the damage is not beyond recognition, you can apply for a passport re-issue using the Tatkaal scheme. However, the issuance of passports under the Tatkaal scheme is subject to approval by the passport office. If the passport has been damaged beyond recognition, you won't be able to apply using the Tatkaal scheme. 

• Are Government/Public Sector/Statutory body employees required to undergo Police Verification to obtain a passport?

  Government/Public Sector/Statutory body employees may be issued a passport without undergoing Police Verification if they submit their original Identity Certificate along with the application form. They can also be issued a passport on a post-police verification basis if they submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) or on a pre-police verification basis if they submit a Prior Intimation (PI) letter along with the application form.
