• What are the instructions before visiting the passport office?

  You should reach the passport office 15 minutes before the appointment time and must carry the appointment receipt. The applicant can also show the appointment SMS received on their registered mobile number. Carry original documents as mentioned on the official website- www.passportindia.gov.in, and photocopies of the related documents.   

• How many days will a normal passport take?

  The standard processing time of a normal passport ranges between 30 to 45 days.

• What questions are asked in passport appointments?

  Some of the questions that are asked in passport appointments are full name and full name in spelling; address in which documents were sent back by the IPS; method used to send passport application; wife’s date of birth; who else are registered from the family on the electoral sheet; and many more.

• What documents are required for passport appointment?

  The main documents required for passport appointment are election photo ID card, Aadhar card, passbook of existing bank account, utility bills, such as landline bill or postpaid mobile bill, water bill electricity bill, etc., rent agreement copy, Income Tax Return certificate, copy of spouse’s passport, and letter head from reputed company’s employer. 

• What is the dress code for passport appointment?

  Decent attire is the primary requirement to attend the passport appointment. Male applicants must wear collared shirt and both ears and eyebrows of the applicant should be visible, irrespective of the gender. Veil or head scarf is allowed during passport appointment if worn for medical reasons or due to religious purposes. 

• What happens during passport appointment?

  Documents will be verified and returned to the applicant, which will be further uploaded on the Passport Seva Portal. After successful verification, the applicant will receive a printout of the personal data to be signed before submitting.
