TS Transport and Vehicle Registration Process in Telangana

To register a vehicle temporarily, the applicant must submit their application in Form 20 as stated in the Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989. The form should be marked as 'Temporary' and submitted to the dealer of the new vehicle or the Registration Authority. The details from particulars 23 to 32 are to be compulsorily entered unless it's a transport vehicle.

Documents Required for Vehicle Registration in Telangana

In order to permanently register a two-wheeler in Telangana, the vehicle owner should submit an application to the registering authority. The documents required for the same are as follows:

1. Photocopy of sales certificate in Form 21
2. Road-worthiness certificate
3. Insurance certificate
4. Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate
5. Address proof
6. Original sales certificate
7. Customs clearance certificate for imported vehicles

The road tax and registration fees should be paid by the vehicle owner separately.

Extension of Temporary Registration

Temporary registration is valid for a limited period. However, its validity can be extended by submitting an application to the Registering authority. Following is the list of documents to be submitted:

1. Photocopy of Sales certificate - Form 21
2. Road worthiness certificate copy (in Form 22) from the vehicle manufacturer
3. Copy of Insurance certificate
4. PUC (Pollution Under Control) Certificate
5. Address proof (Aadhaar card, Pan Card copy of Ration Card, phone bill, Electricity Bill, any other utility bill)
6. Design approval copy of STA (for Trailar or Semi Trailar)
7. Original Sales Certificate copy from concerned Authorities in Form 21 (In case of an ex-army vehicle
8. Customs Clearance Certificate (In case of Imported Vehicles)
9. Fee to be paid for temporary registration of the vehicle or validity extension
10. Tax payment to be made

Permanent Registration of Vehicle in Telangana

For permanent registration certificate of two-wheeler/vehicle, an application has be made in Form 20 to the Registering Authority. The application must be made within 7 days from the date after the vehicle is delivered by the dealer/manufacturer. The following is the list of necessary documents:

1. Photocopy of Sales certificate - Form 21
2. Road worthiness certificate copy (in Form 22) from the vehicle manufacturer

Issue of Duplicate Certificate of Registration

An application for a duplicate Registration Certificate (RC) can be made in Form 26 if is stolen, misplaced or lost. If the vehicle is covered by a financing agency/bank, the application form must be attested by the financer too. The form has to  be filled and submitted to the registering authority along with the below-mentioned documents:

1. Copy of police FIR
2. PUC (Pollution Under Control) Certificate

Change of Residence

In case you wish to record a change in the residential address in the RC, an application has to be made to the RTO by the owner of the vehicle in Form 33. The Following documents are to be submitted along with the application:

1. Registration Certificate (RC)
2. New Address Proof

Allotment of New Registration Mark in Case of Vehicle Transfer to Another State

If the vehicle is moved to another state in India, it has to be re-registered in the state where it has been moved to as per Section 47 of the Motor Vehicles Act. The application for re- registration and to obtain a new vehicle number is to be made in Form 27 along with a No Objection Certificate (NOC) obtained from the RTO where the vehicle was previously registered. A vehicle can be used in any other state without re-registration for a maximum period of 12 months. Following is the list of documents required for the same:

1. Registration Certificate of the vehicle
2. Residence Proof of the applicant
3. No Objection Certificate (NOC) obtained from the RTO where the vehicle was previously registered

Issue of No Objection Certificate (NOC)

An application for No Objection Certificate (NOC) can be made in Form 28 (3 copies) to the RTO/Registering Authority where the vehicle is registered currently. Following documents are to be submitted along with the application:

3. Receipt of Payment of Motor Vehicle Tax
