Questions Related to Your Previous Visit or Stays in the US or Visas

1. Have you ever visited the US before?
   The visa officer wants to know if this is your first trip to the US or if you have been to the country before. Give the correct number as this information will be cross-checked.
2. What type of visa you had travelled on during your previous visit to the US?
   Here, the applicants have to name the types of us visa that they had travelled on during their previous US trip.
3. What was the duration of your stay in the US?
   Mention the time period of your previous US trip.
4. Have your visa been rejected before?
   It is a simple yes or no question. If the answer is yes, the interviewer might ask you your reason for the same.
5. When did you last travel to the US?
   Here, you have to mention when you last went to the US. You can mention the year and the date of the same.

Questions That You May Be Asked If You Did Not Apply for the L2 Visa Along With Your L1 Spouse

1. When was the L1 visa of your spouse stamped?
   Here, the interviewer wants to know when your spouse got his/her L1 visa stamped. Provide the relevant information.
2. Why have you applied for the L2 visa separately?
   Here, you have to specify the reason for applying for a L2 visa separately and not at the time when your spouse applied for a L1 visa. Be precise and to the point.
3. Why have you not applied for a L2 visa when your spouse applied for a L1 visa?
   This question is similar to the previous one. The interviewer is trying to ask you the reason for applying for a L2 visa later and not at the same time when your husband/wife applied for his/her L1 visa. Make sure your answers for both the questions do not contradict each other.
4. Since when is your spouse working in the US?
   Mention the time period for which your spouse has been working in the US. The interviewer may verify your answer, so make sure that you are aware of the right answer.
5. What is the annual income of your spouse?
   Here, the interviewer wants to know if you are aware of how much your spouse earns and also to verify the information with the one that has been mentioned in the financial statements.
6. Can you show the recent paystubs of your husband/wife?
   Here, you have to show the interviewer the recent paystubs of your husband/wife. Make sure these are the correct ones as the officer is going to cross check them with the documents he/she already has.
7. Can you show the bank statements of your husband/wife?
   Here, you have to show the bank statements of your husband/wife to the interviewer.
8. Has the company of your spouse applied for the green card petition?
   You can answer this question with a yes/no. If you say a yes, the interviewer may ask questions related to green card.

Questions Related to the Applicant

1. Will you be working in the US?
   Here, the interviewer wants to know if you plan to work during your stay in the US. If you have plans on working, you can say yes as L2 visa holders are allowed to work full-time in the country. If you do not already have an employment or are not sure, you can choose to say no. Children who apply for L2 visa are not permitted to work in the US.
2. Will you be studying in the US?
   The interviewer wants to know if you plan to study during your stay in the US. The L2 visa holders are allowed to study in the country, so you can choose to say yes. If you do not already have an admission and/or are not sure, you can say no.
3. How will you spend your time the whole day when your spouse is at work?
   Here, the officer wants to know how you plan to spend your time when your spouse is at work. Be precise while answering this question.
4. What is your education qualification?
   Here, the interviewer wants to know your highest education qualification. Tell him/her the truth (Carry proof of the same with you in case he/she asks you for it).
5. Which college did you study in?
   Provide the name of the college in which you studied.
6. Are you currently employed?
   You can answer this question with a yes or no. If you are employed, mention the name of the company you work for.
7. Do you plan to quit your job?
   The officer is checking whether you plan to leave your current job to go to the US. So, if you plan on quitting, tell the true reason for the same.
8. What do you do at present?
   Through this question the interviewer wants to get an idea about what you do. He/she wants to know whether you are employed or a student or a home maker.
9. Where do you stay at present?
   Mention the name of the place and carry a document proving the same. It will help in case he/she asks for proof.
10. Who will pay for the expenses of your trip to the US?
    Here, the visa officer wants to know who is going to pay of the expenses of your trip to the US. It is advisable to mention your or your spouse's name in this case.
11. Where will you stay in the US?
    Through this question, the interviewer is checking if you are aware of the place you are going to stay in. It is advisable that you mention the name of the city and the state in your answer.
12. Do you have relatives or friends in the US?
    The interviewer is trying to find out if you know anyone apart from your spouse in the US. If you have relatives or friends, mention some of their names along with how you are related to them in your reply.

Questions Related to Your Marriage

1. When and where did you marry?
   The visa officer wants to know your wedding date and place. Make sure you mention the correct date and place.
2. Can I see your wedding album?
   The visa officer may ask you to show your wedding album for verification purposes. Make sure you carry some photos with you, if not the full album. These pictures should show the actual wedding ceremony.
3. Can I see the invitation card of your wedding?
   Provide your wedding invitation card to the interviewer.
4. What are the names of your mother- and father-in-law?
   To verify the information related to your marriage, the interviewer may ask you the names of your mother- and father-in-law. Provide the correct information.

Questions Related to Your Children

1. Do you have any children?
   The interviewer wants to know if you have any children. Provide details, if applicable.
2. How old are your children?
   Provide relevant details about the age of your children.
3. Are your children citizens of the United States?
   Provide information as applicable.
4. Could I see the birth certificates of your children?
   Provide the birth certificates of your children to the interviewer.

Questions Related to Your L1 Spouse

1. What is the date of birth of your spouse?
   The interviewer wants to know the date of birth of your spouse. Provide the correct information.
2. What is the highest education qualification of your spouse?
   Provide the relevant information.
3. What is the name of the company in which your spouse works?
   Provide the name of the company.
