There are 48 defined occupations that exist as per this policy scheme’s wordings. AABY and Janashree Bima Yojana (JBY) were two Health schemes of a similar sort that existed before to 2013, both were combined after 2013.

What is Covered under Aam Aadmi Bima Yojana?

Aam Aadmi Bima Yojana Registration Online:

Enrolling in the Aam Aadmi Bima Yojana is not the same as purchasing a regular insurance plan. To enrol in this scheme, you need to visit the nodal agency designated to handle the enrolling procedure. A nodal agency is any institutional arrangement designated by the state/central government or a union territory of India. You can also do the registration process online through the official website of the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC).  

The steps to apply for the Aam Aadmi Bima Yojana online are as follows:

Step 1: Visit LIC’s official website.  

Step 2: Navigate to ‘LIC Aam Aadmi Bima Yojana Apply Online.’ 

Step 3: Enter all the requested information in the application form. 

Step 4: Upload scanned copies of all the relevant documents.

Aam Aadmi Bima Yojana Offline Registration:

To apply for the Aam Aadmi Bima Yojana, follow the steps mentioned below: 

Step 1: Collect an application form from the nearest nodal agency.

How to Claim Aam Aadmi Bima Yojana?

The claim process for the Aam Aadmi Bima Yojana scheme is simple and hassle-free. You can make a claim in the following four circumstances: 

Death Claim Process:  

In the event of death, the nominee must file a claim using a death certificate. When a beneficiary passes away, the Aam Aadmi Bima Yojana scheme should still be active. The claim must be filed to the Nodal Agency official who will complete the verification process. During the process, the official will confirm that the deceased individual was an earning member of a Below Poverty Line (BPL)/Marginally Above BPL family. The deceased person's occupation will also be considered. 

The following documents are required to file a death claim:

  1. Original and duplicate death certificates 

Accidental Death Claim Process: 

The accidental death claim process is identical to that of natural death. In addition to the claim form and death certificate, the following documents will be needed: 

  1. FIR copy 
  2. Police Inquest Report 
  1. Police Conclusion Report 
  2. Post Mortem Report 

Disability Claim Process: 

If an individual has a total or partial disability, they can file a disability claim under the Aam Aadmi Bima Yojana. To file a disability claim, you must also provide supporting documentation that can help verify your condition. The documents required are as follows: 

  1. Proof of the accident: police report, video recording, or photographs. 
  1. Medical certificate granted by a Government Civil Surgeon/qualified Orthopaedician detailing the specifics of the accident, such as the type of disability and limb loss of the scheme member. 

Scholarship Claim Process: 

You have to fill Aam Aadmi Bima Yojana Scholarship online application form and submit it to the designated Nodal Agency. The Nodal Agency will choose the qualified students. Under this scheme, Rs.100 will be paid to a child per month. The student list will subsequently be sent to the respective P&GS section. There will be information about the students, including: 

  1. Student’s name 
  2. The class in which the student is enrolled

  2. Policyholder’s name 
  3. AABY master policy number 
  4. Membership number 
  5. NEFT details 

Eligible students will receive financial benefits in their accounts on 1 July and 1 January every year through NEFT. If any such account does not exist, alternative payment methods will be considered. The Aam Aadmi Bima Yojana Scholarship is limited to a beneficiary’s two children who are studying between 9th and 12th standard. 

Benefits of Aam Aadmi Bima Yojana:  

The benefits offered under the Aam Aadmi Bima Yojana are as follows: 

  1. Coverage for natural death: The Aam Aadmi Bima Yojana has an entry age of 18 to 59 years. If a member passes away from natural causes, LIC will pay a death claim of Rs.30,000 to the nominee. 
  2. Coverage for accidental death: Under this scheme, the nominee will receive an insurance cover of Rs.75,000 in the event of the member’s accidental death.  
  3. Coverage for disability: Members of the Aam Aadmi Bima Yojana will receive Rs.37,500 for permanent partial disability and Rs.75,000 for permanent total disability as a result of an accident. 
  4. Extra Benefit: In addition to death and disability benefits, the Aam Aadmi Bima Yojana offers monetary benefits so that at least two children in the household continue to get an education without interruption. Eligible children studying between 9th and 12th standard will receive Rs.100 per month on a half-yearly basis.
