How to Apply and Start a Common Service Center (CSC) in 2025

CSCs are points of access that allow residents of rural and remote areas to connect to government programs and services through the e-governance system. These areas offer citizens the comfort of connecting to various government services and programs via the internet connection.  

To be eligible to join in the CSC 2.0 Scheme, you must meet specific eligibility requirements if you want to form a CSC in your community.

If you want to start a CSC in your locality, you should fulfil certain eligibility criteria to participate in CSC 2.0 Scheme.

Eligibility Criteria to Participate in CSC Scheme

The following are the eligibility criteria for Common Service Center (CSC):

Age -  An applicant should be at least 18 years of age limit.

Qualification - An individual should pass the Matriculation Level Examination or equivalent from a recognized board.

Infrastructure Required to Start a CSC Center

If you want to start a CSC in your area, you should be eligible to participate in the CSC Scheme. Moreover, if you are eligible, you should have the required infrastructure given below:

The Common Service Center Scheme has been designed by the Government for providing e-services to the citizens by establishing a common centre under the Digital India Programme. Eligible applicants can start CSC by approaching the Service Center Agency (SCA) of that particular area.

The following are the required CSC infrastructure:

  1. The building/room has a place of 100 to 150 square feet.
  2. Two printers (Dot Matrix + Inkjet).
  3. Webcam.
  4. RAM of at least 512 MB storage capacity.
  5. V-SAT Connectivity. Wireless/ Wired.
  6. Hard Disc Drive of starting 120 GB.
  7. CD/DVD Drive.
  8. Biometric or IRIS authentication scanner from banking services.

The total estimated cost per CSC will be 1.25 to 1.50 lakh except for building and land.

How to Apply for a CSC Center?

The following are the steps that are to be followed to apply for CSC Center:

Step 1: To register for CSC or to complete the application process, the applicants have to visit the online web portal. Once you visit the main page, you have to click on "Apply". 

Step 2: Enter your details related to your Aadhar card

Step 3: Next, enter the Captcha and click on "Submit". 

Step 4: You will receive a One Time Password (OTP) on your registered mobile number. Enter the OTP in the space provided. 

Step 5: Enter your details on the Kiosk Tab which includes the Kiosk centre, Gram Panchayat details, and location. 

Step 6: Enter your bank details under the "Bank" tab. 

Step 7: Enter the scanned copies of your documents and geotag the photos of your CSC. 

Step 8: Click on "Submit". 

Step 9: You will receive a verification email via your registered email. You need to save the application number for your future reference. 

How to Re-Register and Check CSC Application Status Online

The following are the steps of re-registration and status of CSC:

Step 1: Visit Official site https://register.csc.gov.in/register

Step 2: Click on the page and look for the registration or status option. 

Step 3: The applicants should provide details related to an email ID, ID number and details regarding biometric information Aadhar ID.
