Well, the documents and the eligibility criteria to apply for a credit card would vary from bank to bank and from card to card. However, there are certain common documents that most of the banks including the top banks such as SBI, HDFC, ICICI, Axis Bank and others require the applicant to submit along with the credit card application.

  • What are the documents which will be accepted by the bank for age proof?

    You can submit your passport, birth certificate, class 10 mark sheet or voter ID card as age proof.

  • What should I do if I am an NRI and I do not have my passport with me during the time of document verification?

    If you are an NRI customer and cannot submit your passport, you can always submit your driving licence, or appointment letter.

  • Is it compulsory to submit documents for getting a credit card?

    Yes, you have to submit documents to get a credit card in order to establish proof of income, proof of residential address and proof of identity. The bank will not conduct any business with people who do not verify their details.

  • What is FATF?

    FATF is Financial Action Task Force. If you are an NRI customer and are in a FATF country, then you can attest your documents from an Overseas banker who has been licensed to operate in the country. In a non-FATF affiliated country, the customer's documents will have to be attested by a Indian Consulate or a Foreign Notary.
